Pathways Of Grace

This morning I woke up to some troubling news. I was informed via the news that a homeless person here in abbotsford Burnt to death in a make shift shelter by peardonville overpass. At first I was sadened that yet again another homless person has died trying to stay warm. It was then I realized that he was one of the people I work with in my food ministry. I brought him food on a regular basis his name is John. ALthough he live as a homeless person he was perhaps one the most humble men I have ever met. Thankful for food and conversation and also Stories about Jesus. In particular he enoyed the stormy seas story. He was a beleive and last summer he did recieve Jesus as his personal savior. It hurts me that he went home this way. With that being said I am very thankful to the Lord for aloowing our paths to cross.

When we see homeless people we tend to judge them quickly like they look health can work so why not or the have mental issues and are crazy. In John's case he was well educated but lost his job years ago and simply lost hope. So today My prayer is that you will find a homeless person and help give them hope for today and tommorow through Jesus and let them know you know they exsists and that they are more than just a nobody.

Don't miss out on that chance because this is what didn't do I had made it a point in over 6 months to go and visit John to let him know he matters. For that I repent to the Lord and to John. I don't know if it would have made a difference but it is a very important lesson for me to learn and perhaps help you advoid.

After the experience of this happening yesterday and then read all your comments the question that seems to be posed is what do we do?

I prayed lots over the last 24 hours and as you know Jim my ministry is primarily focused on the unsaved in particular the drug addict the hooker on the corner the homeless guy/girl/family and the run away once upon a time christian. I have come to the conclusion that in my case and it will be different for each person in ministry I am to simply keep the memory of what happened to this young man alive through a testimony of follow-ups with the people I minister too
